Energy Efficiency Policy

Government Energy Efficiency Schemes / Building Safety Programmes

Building regulations and other legislation introduced by devolved governments take priority over UK-wide industry standards. It is therefore important to be aware of the rules that prevail in each state. Some useful sources of guidance can be found below.

Insulation Stakeholders / Government Agencies

Government Agencies / Industry Bodies

Numerous government agencies and industry bodies help to safeguard standards and contribute to industry debate, policy development, consultation exercises and the publication of relevant industry data. Below is a selection of influential bodies in the UK.

TrustMark / PAS2030 + MCS Certification Bodies

TrustMark is the only government-endorsed quality scheme for work carried out in domestic properties. It is a requirement of the PAS standards that retro-fitted energy efficiency measures be fitted by a Trustmark-accredited installer. The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) provides similar assurance for projects involving the installation of microgeneration measures. Links to the respective certification bodies are listed below.

Insulation Guarantee Providers

Different insulation products and insulation systems may be supported by guarantees from different providers. Here is a list of some of the most notable providers in the sector.

Industry Standards / PAS 2030 / PAS 2035

The following sites provide further information on regulations in each UK province.

Industry Standards (inc. PAS 2030/35:2019)
