Press Release:
Energy Performance gets Reprieve

Release Date 18 July 2007

Energy Performance Certificates have survived the Government's shock climbdown over the need for house sellers to have Home Information Pack surveys.

Neil Marshall, Chief Executive of the National Insulation Association, said: "We're pleased that – whatever the future fate of the Home Information Pack concept – the Government appears to have recognised that knowing the thermal efficiency of properties is an important piece of information for house purchasers and renters to have."

With around 1 million homes changing hands in the UK every year, the Energy Performance Certificates will be an important tool in making consumers far more aware of how inefficient their homes are and how they could save money by taking energy efficiency advice.

NIA represents the manufacturers and installers of cavity wall, loft insulation and draught proofing, and other innovative solutions for insulation. It is the definitive voice of the insulation industry with respect to household insulation.

End.
