Press Release:
Are you one of the energy savvy? Insulate now before winter hits

Release Date 16 September 2013

A recent study* by energy firm Npower has revealed that 85% of over 55s and 61% of 18 to 24 year olds try to be energy efficient in the home. With these results in mind the National Insulation Association (NIA) is urging these householders to think smart and insulate now as home insulation is the single most effective method of saving money and carbon on domestic energy bills.

An astounding 59% of heat can be lost through uninsulated walls and roofs; but with the right measures put in place, householders could be making huge savings on their energy bills and cut their carbon usage. The Energy Saving Trust reports that by simply installing Cavity Wall Insulation savings of up to £140** per year can be made and £180** per year from Loft Insulation. Draught-proofing windows and doors can save £30** per year and when installed with other measures will greatly increase the comfort in a home. The savings are even greater for insulating solid walls up to £490** per year.

Neil Marshall, Chief Executive of the NIA, commented: "Furthermore, according to the Energy Saving Trust, installing cavity wall and loft insulation together costs on average £800; this means they can pay for themselves in less than 3 years!"

Not only will savvy householders be saving money on their energy bills but will also be helping the environment with the carbon savings that continue year on year!"

Householders are advised to contact an NIA member today who can advise them on the most appropriate and efficient method possible of insulating their home.  Furthermore, NIA members adhere to a strict Code of Professional Practice so peace of mind comes as standard.

Householders might also be able to obtain financial support in paying for insulation measures through the Green Deal and Energy Company obligation.

To find out more, or to contact their local installer, householders should visit the NIA website on  or call 01525 383313.
