Press Release:
Top Leadership Award for NIA Chief

Release Date 11 July 2007

The National Insulation Association is celebrating after its Chief Executive Neil Marshall won a major business award.

Neil won the highly prestigious 'Leadership of the Year' award from the Trade Association Forum at its annual best practice awards ceremony held in Mayfair, London, this week.

Since joining the NIA in 2005 from British Gas, Neil has transformed the organisation. Before he joined, the NIA had been losing membership, had a poor reputation and it was widely perceived that a more professional approach was required by the insulation industry if it was to be a true partner to Government in helping to meet the present significant carbon challenges faced by the UK.

Now the NIA takes an active role in influencing Government about issues affecting its members, and is now recognised as the definitive voice of the industry. A renewed sense of the importance and relevance of NIA membership is being felt by its members, now representing over 95% of the UK's home insulation capacity.

NIA Chairman Tony Hardiman said: "Neil has fundamentally repositioned the NIA and, in a short period of time, has changed the organisation from a slow, reactive body with very little influence to a quick response, highly creative and dynamic Association which is respected within key government and wider circles."

The TAF judges commented that Neil had demonstrated real passion and commitment to his role. He was praised for driving through what had been a highly aggressive transformation programme.

Widely known for his commitment to energy efficiency and the environment, Neil is a tireless campaigner to encourage householders and businesses to reduce their carbon emissions.

End.
