Press Release:
Insulate the home and bring down those energy bills

Release Date 13 December 2012

The National Insulation Association (NIA) is reminding householders that all major energy suppliers have recently increased their prices this winter and so it's a great concern that many people may resort to leaving their homes unheated for fear that they won’t be able to pay their energy bills. However, there is a simple way they can bring these bills down without compromising their quality of life - and that's by insulating their homes.

By simply installing cavity wall and loft insulation, a saving of up to £310* per year can be made. The savings are even greater for insulating solid walls and lofts with savings up to £635** per year.

For peace of mind, householders are also advised to use NIA members who will advise the householder on the most appropriate and efficient method possible of insulating their home.

Householders should look out for the new NIA logo launched on 4th December 2012. This new logo will give its members a more visible 'Seal of Approval' to highlight their professionalism and the fact that they belong to a recognised trade association with a strict code of professional practice.

Neil Marshall, Chief Executive of the NIA, commented: "With the launch of the Government's energy efficiency schemes the Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation (ECO) as well as an increased focus on quality assurance and consumer protection, we felt it was important to rebrand in order to reinforce the professionalism of the NIA and its members to provide reassurance to householders.

"The new graphic is designed to reflect the commitment of the NIA and its members to maintaining and raising standards within the insulation industry with this 'Seal of Approval' design."

Along with the new logo comes a new web address, a shorter version of the original to reflect the name the association is best known for with householders and the media.

To find out more about insulation for the home, or to contact their local installer for a free no obligation survey, householders should visit the NIA website www.nia-uk.org or call 08451 636363.

* Based on adding cavity wall insulation (CWI) (saving around £135 per year) and loft insulation (LI) of 270mm (saving around £175 per year). Saving based on an uninsulated three bed semi detached gas heated house. If a property has 50mm of loft insulation then a combined saving for CWI and LI would then be around £185 per year.

** Estimated savings if an uninsulated home installed Solid Wall Insulation (SWI) (saving of around £460) and Loft Insulation (LI) (saving around £175) to the recommended depth of 270mm - based on a three bedroom gas heated semi detached house. If a property has 50mm of loft insulation then a combined saving for SWI and LI would then be around £510 per year.

End.
