Press Release:
Act now and save money with loft insulation

Release Date 23 July 2012

Recent figures show that around 9 million homes in Britain could see significant improvements in energy efficiency by simply increasing their loft insulation; the National Insulation Association (NIA) is urging householders to act now and start saving money on fuel bills as many householders are unaware that they have inadequate loft insulation that does not meet the current requirements of at least 270mm

With current subsidies and grants available towards the cost of loft insulation under the current CERT (Carbon Emissions Reduction Target) due to end this December, householders are being advised not to delay and take advantage of the scheme whilst funding is still available.

Neil Marshall, Chief Executive of the NIA, commented: "By simply installing loft insulation, a saving of up to £175* per year can be made. Home insulation is the single most effective method of saving money on domestic energy bills, with savings continuing year on year! Grants and subsidies can significantly reduce the cost of improving home energy efficiency via insulation. In fact, those people receiving benefits and people aged 70 and over could even qualify to have their lofts insulated for FREE."

For peace of mind householders are also advised to always use a qualified installer. By using an NIA member, householders are safe in the knowledge that they are employing a company who is bound by a strict Code of Professional Practice but also someone who can advise them on the range of support available and how to apply. What's more, NIA members will advise the householder on the most appropriate and efficient method possible of insulating their loft.
